Letter for Y4,5,& 6
Friday 12th January 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
Free vaping and drugs information workshop for parents in Y4, Y5 and Y6
As a school we are working hard to ensure our children are ready for their next steps in life and want to safeguard them about potential risks that they may be exposed to. We know that as children move on to secondary school, vaping and drug use are more widely used and accessible to children. We want to prepare our children and yourselves as much as possible. With this in mind we have joined forces with 3 other schools with ELAN to provide workshops for Y6 children, staff training and a workshop for parents.
We have and exciting opportunity to work with Dave Parvin from Drug Sense UK. Dave is a former Drug Squad Officer and has lots of experience and knowledge about the impact and consequence of drugs and substance use. He is extremely passionate about raising the awareness of the potential risks and dangers associated with any form of substance misuse including vaping. Dave has delivered hundreds of Drug Awareness Sessions to schools and colleges all over the country, engaging children, staff and parents, to ensure his key message about raising the awareness of the real risks and dangers associated with many substances young people are likely to come into contact with.
Given the current ‘epidemic use’ of Vapes in schools Dave is currently focussing a lot of his time on educating young people about the ‘risks and dangers’ associated with these devices.
We are offering 50 free places for parents of children in Y4, Y5 and Y6. This workshop will be held at Bournville Primary School on Thursday 1st February 2024 from 6.30-8.30pm.
If you would like to join us for this very informative and extremely useful information workshop, please book your free place via ParentPay.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Kind regards
